UX/UI Developer

Reports to:
Creative Lead

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and developing iOS native apps
  • Collaborate in the development of integrated strategies within the marketing and creative team
  • Design and create ongoing interactive projects within the creative and marketing teams

Accountabilities:

1.   Design, develop and implement Steam Whistle’s digital tool development & implementation – including web and mobile products for internal and external users  

 

2.   Expert knowledge of how apps work with ability to develop ideas into useable apps.  Must be able to communicate them effectively from concept to interface

 

3.   Implement backend systems to allow other users/departments to add/edit website content

 

4.   Working closely with end users to identify and understand goals/user experience as they apply to the design of the apps

 

5.   Assist with managing Steam Whistle’s web content – including design & maintenance of steamwhistle.ca, mobile site & on line advertising

 

6.   Implementing interactive strategies that provide content to multiple platforms (Desktop browsing, mobile, etc.)

7.   Assist other members of the creative team on various other projects when needed

 

8.   Creative thinking and implementation of new web technologies

Experience and qualifications:

 

Skills and knowledge:

·      Four years’ experience  working in the creative field, including web/app design

·      In depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver)

·      3+ years’ experience with HTML,CSS,PHP,  and JavaScript/jQuery

·      Objective C along with knowledge of Apple’s developer tools is advantageous

·      Higher education qualification in graphic design or programming or computer science

·      Strong analytical skills with ability to work on own initiative, meet tight deadlines and work independently
