For
a second year, Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan will
be receiving a holiday care package from the Good Beer
Folks at Steam Whistle Brewing. Employees donated a
week’s worth of staff beer, which was then matched
by the company, and this year we included greetings
from the public by way of an autographed banner to hang
in the Kandahar mess hall. Steam Whistle also delivered
beer to the Calgary Garrison and Toronto’s Moss
Park Armory so that those soldiers scheduled to go on
a tour of duty in the New Year could also enjoy some
of our Pilsner along with their families. Happy Holidays
everyone, and come home safe!

Best local brewery
STEAM WHISTLE BREWING
On
November 22nd, NOW Magazine announced their
“Best of Everything Toronto” issue and
Steam Whistle for the fifth year was voted BEST
LOCAL BREWERY.
“Marek
Mikunda earned his hop and barley stripes at a little
brewery in the Czech Republic called Pilsner Urquell.
Maybe you've heard of it. Now at home in the Steam Whistle
roundhouse, Mikunda oversees the production of Toronto's
delicious Bestselling microbrew.” |

Steam Whistle is proud of our many Green Initiatives, the
reasons we’ve been named 1 of only 21 “Green
Buildings” in Toronto by the Clean Air
Partnership.
BIO
DIESEL
Since January 2007, Steam Whistle has been running its fleet
of delivery trucks on BIO DIESEL. With our fleet crossing
Ontario each week to deliver to Bars, Beer and Liquor
stores, we knew it might be difficult to find Bio Diesel
when we need it, so we chose the convenient option of
having Canada Clean
Fuels bring Bio Diesel to us by tanker load (also fueled by Bio
Diesel) 2 or 3 times a week and fill all of our trucks
on site.

We use B20 grade which is 20% Bio Fuel (a 50/50 blend of
recycled restaurant grease and soy fuel), mixed with
regular diesel. In the warmer summer months we are able
to go to a higher grade of Bio Fuel. The odd time, in
the far corners of the province, you may see our trucks
filling up at regular stations where Bio Diesel isn’t
available, but we hope in time, as demand results in
better availability, we’ll be able to run 100%
Bio Fuel. Today, it’s a good first step.

Mail Bag
A
few letters received this month that we’d like
to share:
“I would like to thank you for making a great tasting
beer. I have been living in Louisiana for the past 10
years. I came back to Ontario at the end of September
07 for a visit. My friend knew I loved a good pilsner.
He gave me a 6 pack of your Steam Whistle. WOW it is
the best tasting pilsner I have ever had. I wish I had
never moved to the States after tasting your brew. I
will be making more trips up to Toronto and would love
to tour your place and buy some merchandise. I would
also like to say I am happy that you are purely Canadian
and went back to the green non-twist top bottle. The
home delivery in the old trucks is out of this world.
Tasting those six bottles that my friend gave me sure
makes me home sick for Canada again. Thanks for making
the best pilsner that I have ever tasted.”
B. Alexander, Monroe, Louisiana
“Keep up the good work folks.
When I want beer I drink beer, when I want to treat
myself I buy Steam Whistle.”

Steam
Whistle enthusiast, Bob Lank, sent us these before and
after pictures of his home beer fridge, now affectionately
named “Whistling Wanda”. Bob hand-sprayed
the fridge our Steam-Whistle-green (GRABBER Green available at Canadian Tire) and then contacted
the brewery for our logo sticker. While his fridge is
reserved for bottles, complete with our magnetically-mounted
retro opener, our Steam Whistle Draught Service specialists
can also convert a home fridge into a draught dispenser.
Give us a call if you need some help with your home
bar. Contact Laura Martin at 416-362-2337 ext 226 or
