Steam Whistle Brewing January E-News
New Year's Resolution - pledge to drink better!

Health Benefits of Moderate Beer Consumption - It seems that moderate drinking is associated with a healthy lifestyle. A study carried out at TNO Nutrition and Food Research suggests that moderate drinking raises the levels of a hormone that protects you from developing artery disease. This hormone has a positive effect on inflammation, blood clotting and the way we metabolize fats in the blood. People have associated these findings with red wine, but with about half the calories per ounce as red wine, moderate beer consumption also provides these health benefits.

Not From Concentrate - many commercial brewers use a technique of high gravity brewing making a concentrated beer with 10-11% alc./vol. and then diluting this liquid with water just prior to bottling. While this technique saves labour, money and tank space, it doesn't contribute to beer's quality but does produce high alcohol molecules that are more difficult to metabolize and could make you feel worse the next morning. You deserve better! Rest assured, we do not employ any of these techniques at Steam Whistle, but simply rely on all-natural ingredients and traditional craftsmanship in the making of our Pilsner.

Reward yourself with a quality beverage!

Do One Thing Really, Really Well

While we are passionate about Pilsner, Steam Whistle enjoys supporting others in their individual pursuits of excellence whether in art, athleticism, craftsmanship, or exploration. A few weeks ago we hosted photographer Farzam Hosseindoust, and Designer, Ryan Joelson, both currently studying at Ryerson University and definitely both to watch on Canada's fashion scene. Farzam loves this picture for it's sense of movement, captured on a Nikon Digital SLR camera.
