Steam Whistle - Do One Thing Really, Really Well

The Blue Bash

Steam Whistle hosts The Blue Bash.

As you probably know, nearly one billion people do not have accesses to clean drinking water, and a further 2.6 billion have no basic sanitation like toilets and latrines. This constitutes one of the most lethal, yet solvable, public health emergencies affecting the developing world today.

Last October, I joined Ben Mulroney (CTV’s eTalk), Paul G. Smith (Chairman, VIA Rail), George Yap (Executive Director, WaterCan) and 20 other Canadians on Mount Kilimanjaro to support WaterCan, an Ottawa-based charity that focuses on water and sanitation projects throughout eastern Africa. Our intrepid group’s climb to the “rooftop of Africa” raised over $250,000. I’m happy to report that all contributions directly supported WaterCan’s worthwhile projects.

But we could do so much more. That’s why our Toronto-based team has decided to make The Blue Bash an annual fundraiser in support of WaterCan. Will you join the effort?

Mingle with a few hundred of your colleagues from the professional water and infrastructure communities at a cocktail reception at Toronto’s Steam Whistle Roundhouse (255 Bremner Boulevard). Special guests Alex and Tyler Mifflinof TVO’s The Water Brothers will screen “No Woman, No Water”—an episode they filmed during our trip to Tanzania. The evening will include other special guests, plus live DJs, dancing, nibbles, and a raffle table full of fabulous items.

All ticket proceeds will directly support WaterCan’s work on water and sanitation projects in East Africa.
