Steam Whistle - Do One Thing Really, Really Well

Gabriel Prokofiev at the CMC

On January 28, 2014 the Canadian Music Centre will host composer/DJ Gabriel Prokofiev at our venue space in Toronto. Gabriel Prokofiev is the grandson of world-renowned composer Sergei Prokofiev and he is currently leading the movement of bringing classical music audiences into bars in England where he DJs and remixes live, acoustic instruments.

Gabriel is in Toronto as the composer in residence for the U of T New Music Festival. He will be at the Canadian Music Centre from 9pm - late for a concert of up-and-coming composers working with electronics and contemporary classical music. Featured at the concert will be composer/performers Rose Bolton (violin) and Laura Silberberg (piano), the latter of whom will do an improv set with Gabriel. Following, he will do a solo set for an hour or so that features his work as well as the music of his label, NONCLASSICAL, which he runs out of the UK.
