Organic Abstraction: Evolving Connection

June 2017 Art Show: an exhibition of abstract paintings in Steam Whistle's gallery

As a designer and abstract fluid painter, the work of Robert Marks relies on thoughtful experimentation with acrylic paints, resin, photography, and graphic design.

With various mediums and methods of manipulation, irregular amorphous shapes entangle one another to carefully parallel our natural world. This series portrays variable perspectives of natural life forms by challenging artistic norms. Each abstraction confronts conventional boundaries by merging the aptitude of fine art with the versatility of design.

Delving into the unknown, each piece evolves from a sense of exploration. It is this organic connection that fuels the process of creating each of these studies. The art of surrendering control and submitting to that connection ultimately brings with it the grounding nature of balance.

It becomes solely up to the spectator to find resonant meaning between each piece and their own perspective. And that basis of meaning is embodied by the variability and malleability of our own lives. What do you see?
